In the last year, my academic focus has shifted to cancer screening and prevention, and I expect this focus to continue to continue over the next several years. As a recent recipient of a Cancer Control Career Development Award from the American Cancer Society, I am engaged in research projects related to interventions to improve the rate of colorectal cancer screening in a variety of clinical settings. Over the next three years I also will be working on to create an integrated cancer curriculum for the Family Medicine Residency Program at San Francisco General Hospital.
- As Co-Director of the Department of Family and Community Medicine’s Collaborative Research Network, I have participated in a wide range of projects related to diabetes, depression, obesity, pain management, and a variety of other chronic medical conditions. The common theme of these projects has been to better understand the process of primary care and on practical interventions that can improve the care that is received by patients in community-based primary care settings.
