Daniel Ciccarone, MD MPH

General

Daniel H. Ciccarone, MD, MPH, has been providing community-based primary care in San Francisco for 15 years. He is Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine and Anthropology, History and Social Medicine at UCSF, where he directs a number of research projects on the prevention and treatment of HIV infection and substance abuse. His publications have appeared in JAMA, NEJM, AJPH, MMWR, CID, Substance Use and Misuse, and the International Journal of Drug Policy. Recently he has received a grant to study the social, behavioral and medical consequences of national and international distribution of heroin, including sources, types and qualities. At the UCSF Medical School he takes pride in revising medical curricula to enhance competencies in working with diverse populations.
